The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, and serves as the principal platform for international cooperation, a centre of excellence, and a repository of policy, technology, resource and financial knowledge on renewable energy.
In line with these aims, IRENA provides a range of products and services, including the IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRLEP), an online learning network.

The „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie e. V." (DGS) was founded in Munich in 1975. Since 1989 it has also been the German Section of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). Main aim of the DGS is the change of the energy sector to sustainable energy activities by implementing renewable energy. As a non-profit association and accepted consumer association it represents the interests of consumers and users concerning the fundamental turn with regard to energy „from the bottom".
